Detox Your Brain – Overview

Have you reached a point where the brain feels tired and can’t work anymore? This is a level where toxicity is very high, and the brain needs a rest. Scientifically, there are many ways in which the brain can reduce toxicity and return to normal conditions. I am going to give you some amazing tips that will help you to detox your busy brain and probably get it back to a normal working condition.

1. Getting Enough Sleep

Having a quality sleep is one of the fundamental ways you can use to detox your brain. Sleep is a natural occurrence where brain cells regenerate thus allowing the brain to heal and recover.

Series of studies and research have shown that the brain contains its internal detoxing system that automatically clears up all those worn out cells every time we fall asleep.

Lack of enough sleep accounts for almost 70% of the cases of toxicity in the brain. It is therefore essential to have enough sleep every night after a long day’s work. This not only helps the brain to recuperate faster, but it also has other health benefits to your entire body.

The glymphatic system is the organ responsible for detoxification in the brain. The Glymphatic system removes cellular waste from the brain by using mitochondria cells found in the brain.

On the other hand, research from the medical department has discovered that fluid by the name of cerebrospinal fluid is responsible for draining toxins away from the brain.

2. Stimulating the Spine (chiropractic adjustments)

It has lately been discovered that these adjustments are a very effective detoxification method since they help the brain in improving memory. This is because the adjustments help the correct flow of blood from the rest of the body to the brain. This process is facilitated by maintaining the spines’ alignment and general movement.

MRI scans show that after chiropractic adjustments, the cerebral spine and blood flow increases thereby releasing your brain from all the stress and toxic wastes and ultimately improving memory. Therefore, if you suffer from memory problems, make sure that you regularly undergo chiropractic adjustments which will help you in improving your memory.

Although medical practitioners suggest that improving the memory is not the primary aim when stimulating the brain, it, however, helps in improving short-term memory, working memory, and long-term memory.

I, therefore, assure you that every chiropractic adjustment you make improves your brain’s ability to get rid of toxic wastes. You should, therefore, make a point of undergoing regular chiropractic adjustments.

3. Write down your important details to empty overcrowded thoughts

The brain works by repeating thoughts that are important but can easily be forgotten. It is through this pressure that mental stress starts to build up and the brain becomes toxic. However, writing down all the important details you need to remember relieves you from fear and a sense of security is once more restored.

Writing down all your thoughts helps you to empty up space especially all those overcrowded thoughts that you don’t need. This technique helps lighten and release the accumulated pressure in your brain.

This is pretty simple, just take a pen and a paper and write any information that comes right into your mind. This is a very effective brain detox tip since it relieves you from the mental pressure that you may be undergoing at that particular moment.

4. Reduce noise and negative thoughts

Do you know that the environment which surrounds you may largely contribute to stress and a toxic brain? Noise is one of the leading distractors of effective thinking since it draws away the necessary attention required in thinking and communication.

When the brain is made exceedingly toxic especially by external noise, you may start to develop certain signs of depression. On the other hand, the negative thought may also be another cause of toxicity in the brain and lead to the development of signs of depression.

In fact, according to recent research by various medical institutions, 3 out of 10 of the signs of depression are caused by noise and negative thoughts. In order to reduce toxicity from the brain and stay a stress-free life, you should avoid associating with negative minded folks. This is because we tend to absorb the energy of the people we are around.

On the other hand, you should always find time to stay alone away from all distractions. This is a very effective way to make sure you get to intimately understand your inanimate nature and form your own opinions in life. This technique will eliminate all those negative signs of depression in no time.

5. Get to do something you like

Research has shown that doing something that you like greatly reduces all those toxic wastes in the brain. For instance, if you love playing golf, you should create some time to play your favorite sport at least twice a week. This technique is meant to distract you from your busy schedule and therefore gives you a perfect moment to refresh your brain.

Also, other possible ways that you can detox your busy brain may be through positively enjoying your leisure time with activities you like such as watching your favorite television channel, reading an inspirational book, or even practicing yoga. I am pretty sure that these fantastic methods will keep your mind calm and relaxed.

6. Try to reduce activities that distract your brain

Distractions are a very common cause of toxicity in the brain. Research and studies show that distractions cause approximately 20% of the brain’s toxicity. You should always avoid distractions by ensuring that you do not multitask.

Multitasking is not good for the brain since the need to acquire a considerable amount of information at the same time only leads to accumulated stress and toxicity in the brain.

One effective technique to counter distraction and multitasking is by practicing the art of not reacting to every impulsive idea that comes to your mind. This requires practice and a little patience.

7. Make your senses active

This is a very effective method of detoxing your busy brain. This brain exercise is mainly done by bringing awareness to all your five common senses. In this way, you can perform a brain exercise such as concentrating on one sense.

For instance, a deep concentration to the sense of smell makes you clear your mind from all those activities that increase toxicity in the brain. For instance, this brain exercise may require you to find a quiet place and concentrate on a certain smell, direct your attention to that specific sense of smell and distinguish its characteristics.

You may ask yourself questions such as, is it fresh or bland, pleasant or unpleasant? A brain exercise with all the five senses will significantly reduce toxicity in your busy brain.

Conclusion

Since the brain uses almost 20% of your body energy, it is therefore essential to ‘cleanse’ it. This process of ‘cleansing’ the brain is what is known as detoxification. Therefore it is imperative for every working individual to ensure that they employ some of the techniques of detoxifying a busy brain.

The most imminent one is getting quality sleep. However, recent research from the National Sleep Foundation (NSF) shows that 80% of adults suffer to some extent from sleep deprivation.

Some very useful tips. I found this page looking for golf topics and saw you mentioned golf as a potential activity to unwind. I have found that to be among the best ways to “detox my brain.” Especially if you are able to get out on the course late in the day, preferably alone. There’s something very relaxing about only having to focus on the singular task of hitting a tiny ball into a tiny hole for a few hours. Combined with being outdoors and (preferably) walking for some exercise, it can be a very important break from the daily grind. Although it is important not to take it too seriously or else you add the stress of trying to score well.

When I was studying for the bar exam years ago, I made time twice a week to play a round of golf alone. As compared to my friends who stressed about the exam 24/7, I was in a much better state of mind when the time came.
